Pastoral Staff

Pastor Darcy Albers – B.A., M. Div.

I was raised near Wetaskiwin, Alberta and raised on a small family farm.  I attended the Canadian Lutheran Bible Institute in Camrose, and worked at Wilderness Ranch Camp in southern Alberta, and later Hastings Lake Bible Camp during the summers.  I was married in 2010, and my wife and I soon after left Canada for a five-year term working as missionaries in Pakistan with the World Mission Prayer League.  During this time, we added a daughter and a son to our family.

After sensing the call to pastoral ministry, I returned to Canada to complete my Masters of Divinity training at Concordia Lutheran Seminary in Edmonton.  After completing my final internship at Valhalla Lutheran Church near Grande Prairie, I accepted a call to serve here at St. Albert Evangelical Lutheran Church in July 2021.

I am excited to serve as the pastor of this church.  I love God’s Word, and the way it challenges us, surprises us, and enlivens our faith.  I love the rich history and the legacy of faith in which the church stands.  And I love the way God uses imperfect yet forgiven sinners in powerful ways.  One of my favorite quotes is from C.S. Lewis, who writes, “How monotonously alike all the great tyrants and conquerors have been, how gloriously different are the saints.”  I pray that we could all live out the uniqueness of our lives in the sure and certain grace of our Lord, the uplifting fellowship of the church, and the vibrant hope and purpose which comes through faith in Jesus Christ as Lord.

May God bless you, and may God bless St. Albert Evangelical Lutheran Church.
